MINUTES OF REGULAR BUTMAN TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING

October 8, 2009

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. on the above date.  Supervisor Shirley Kyle, Treasurer Susie Ruppert, Trustee Linda Haight and eight (8) citizens were in attendance. Clerk Don Joyce and Trustee John Wolski were absent and excused.  The following represents a brief summary of all motions, resolutions, ordinances and actions taken by the board at this meeting; along with other information of general interest to the public.

 

1.      Motion by Ruppert/Haight to approve agenda as presented. Ayes carried; motion passed.

 

2.      Sandy Walling addressed to board regarding the closure of the Gladwin County Zoning Department.  It will be determined by March 2010 if the office can continue to operate.

 

3.      Deputy Clerk Sharon Hobin presented correspondence to the board from Gladwin  County Zoning.

 

4.      The sealed garbage bids were opened and read.  There will be a public meeting on October 19th at 10:30 to announce a selection of a vendor for the township’s garbage removal contract beginning January 1, 2010.

 

5.      Motion by Ruppert/Haight to approve the Consent Agenda for September; along with the October unpaid bills in the amount of $221,269.55.   Ayes carried, motion passes.

 

6.       Treasurer Susie Ruppert reported that income received from the Jim Becker Memorial Golf Scramble amounted to $6,823.00.  The board and members of the BTFD are deeply grateful to the Sugar Springs POA and all those individuals who donated their time, talents and money to insure that this great effort would be successful again this year. 

 

7.      A discussion was held to replace the base coving in the township hall. The floor will need to be replaced in the near future.   A motion by Ruppert/Kyle was made to replace the coving when the floor is replaced. Ayes carried, motion passes.

 

8.      Karen Hoffman presented three bids to remove a dead tree at the cemetery.  Motion by Ruppert/Haight to approve HoJo’s bid of $445.00.  Ayes carried, motion passes.  Motion by Ruppert/Haight approved the cleaning of the ditches at the cemetery for $350.00.  Ayes carried, motion passes.

 

9.      Motion by Kyle/Haight for the township to pay for any members of the BTFD who receives the flu shot at the clinic held on October 14, 2009.

 

10.  Motion by Ruppert/Haight to table the dock proposals until we receive a response to our letter from the DNR.  Ayes carried, motion passes.

 

11.  Report given ay operations manager Rich Deyarmond from United Water regarding last months maintenance

 

12.  Report given by County Commissions Dennis Carl regarding the Gladwin County Zoning Department.

 

13.  Motion by Haight/Ruppert to adjourn the meeting at 8:30.  Ayes carried, motion passes.
