Professional Volunteers Faithfully Serving...

Welcome to the Butman Township Volunteer Fire-Rescue Web page.  We are a fully-qualified non-profit organization with dedicated volunteers providing professional
fire-rescue service available to the residents of Butman Township.  We currently have a roster of 16 volunteers, including officers.

We are always looking for dedicated volunteers (you must be a healthy adult, 18 years or older) to join our Department.  Stop in at the Fire Hall or Township Hall for an application.  You may also call Chief Greg Pollock at (989) 246-0960, leave a message and Chief Pollock will return your call as soon as possible.

911 "Reflective Street Sign" available:

For a $25.00 donation a reflective 911 street sign will be completed and put in at your address.  This sign helps the Fire Department quickly find your home when you need them for emergency or fire services.  An application can be picked up at the POA office or the Township office.  Remember, by buying this sign the life you save may well be your own.  Get yours today.

  Chief Pollock's October, 2009 Report:

2 Fire Runs  /  7 Medical Runs  /  1 Work Detail  / 1 Training Session

1 Rescue/Jaws / 0 Mutual Aid Fires / 0 Mutual Aid Medical

The average personnel response was 6 for fires & 4 for medicals.

Per Chief Pollock's report the current roster is currently at 18 with 13 Firefighters.  12 personnel are Medical First Responders, 1 Medical First Responder Trainees and 1 Firefighter Trainees.  Chief Pollock, Bob Stewart and Tera Price just completed a ICS class and Chief Pollock & Bob Stewart completed an educational methodology class as well.    Five 911 signs are pending as of October 8th.  Our new tanker was delivered in time for the 2009 Jim Becker's Firefighter Golf Outing and everyone at the outing was able to see the new truck.  The new fire truck was also a hit at the Firemens Memorial in Roscommon and the parade that was there as well.  He reminded everyone the firefighters are volunteers, if you see them thank them for their hard work.

Our thanks to all the participants, sponsors, volunteers and workers who worked to make the Jim Becker Firefighter's Golf Outing a HUGE success.  To date over $6,500 was raised to help offset costs associated with the fire department.  It could not happen without the help of everyone.  The list of everyone who participated in some way is too long to put on this website, and not everyone wishes to have their name on a list of donations.  Thanks you letters will be mailed shortly to those who donated.  Please visit your local businesses as they were all instrumental in helping this outing.  Your elected officials from the township and county also particiated.

March of 2009:

The Midland Area Community Foundation awarded a $10,000.00 grant to be used toward the purchase of a new 3000 Gallon NFPA approved pumper/tanker fire fighting apparatus to be delivered to the Butman Township Fire Department in the fall of 2009.  The Butman Township Board of Directors is grateful to the foundation for their financial support and their sincere interest in proving this needed assistance on behalf of all the residents.

A picture of the type of truck being delivered is posted at the Butman Township Hall.  Delivery is expected late fall of 2009.  At that time the township is looking into having an open house of both the township hall and the fire station.

January of 2007:

Karen Trzcinski of Midland donated a 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4X4 to the fire department.  It was fully outfitted as an emergency medical response vehicle and has been very useful during the winter months when the roads were snow covered.  Many thanks to Karen for her generous gift.

  VOLUNTEERS PRAYER:

When I am called to duty, God, wherever flame may rage, Give me strength to save some life, whatever be its age. Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout, And quickly and efficiently, to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling, and to give the best in me, To guard my every neighbor, and protect life & property.
